Barnsley are set to appoint Swedish Under-21 boss Poya Asbaghi as their new manager according to reports in Sweden.
Leading Swedish newspaper Expressen report that Asbaghi is all set for a move to Oakwell.
It’s stated that the final details are expected to go through this coming week, with Asbaghi set to trade Sweden for Yorkshire.
The report notes that Asbaghi will likely bring Ferran Sibila to Barnsley too, reuniting after the Spaniard was Asbaghi’s assistant at Goteborg.
Barnsley CEO Khaled El-Ahmad is thought to have played a role in this move, having previously been chief scout at Swedish side Djurgarden.
Barnsley sacked Markus Schopp earlier this month and have been chasing a new manager.
The Tykes went for Mechelen boss Wouter Vrancken according to Het Laatste Nieuws in Belgium, but their move was rejected.

Now, Barnsley have instead gone for Asbaghi in another curious yet very interesting appointment.
Asbaghi was born in Iran and as assistant manager at Dalkurd FF before becoming their manager.
The 36-year-old moved on to Gefle IF in 2017 before being coached by Goteborg, where he won the Swedish Cup in 2020.
In November 2020, Asbaghi became Sweden Under-21 boss but is now trading that job in for the Barnsley reins.
