Everton are reportedly continuing their pursuit of Barcelona defender Yerry Mina.
According to Goal, Barcelona defender Yerry Mina is content with the offer from Everton after manager Marco Silva contacted his agent and uncle about a move.
Mina, 23, earned his big move to Barca in January having starred in Brazil with Palmeiras, but struggled to make an impact at the Camp Nou in a difficult early stint in Catalunya.
The 6ft 5in defender did impress for Colombia at this summer’s World Cup in Russia though, as he hit three goals in three games – including a last-gasp equaliser against England – to hit the headlines.
Mina’s defending still seems a little raw, but he has great height, strength and aerial ability, with real room for development over the future, but that future may lie away from Barcelona.
Goal report that Everton are continuing to pursue a permanent move for the centre back, and it’s claimed that manager Marco Silva had contacted agent and uncle Jair Mina to lay out his plans.
Silva has allegedly suggested that Mina will be a key part of the Everton defence, receiving regular playing time at Goodison Park – and having failed to receive such promises at Barca, it’s no surprise that the defender is understood to be ‘content’ with the offer.
Barca not only have Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti as their starting centre backs, but have also signed Sevilla’s Clement Lenglet to boost their defensive options, pushing Mina down the pecking order.
Any Everton move would give Barcelona major profit on the £11million signing, and with Toffees director of football Marcel Brands allegedly in Barcelona for talks about Mina and Lucas Digne, he will be hoping for positive news soon.
