According to Goal, Barcelona are interested in signing Georginio Wijnaldum as Liverpool battle to keep him at Anfield.
It’s claimed that Barca are ‘admirers’ of Wijnaldum, and could launch a move to sign him. It’s likely that would be next summer rather than right now.
Wijnaldum’s deal ends in 2021, so Barcelona may want to sign him for free. A cash deal this summer seems very unlikely given their financial issues.
Add in that Wijnaldum turns 30 in November, and Barcelona will surely be pursuing him on a free transfer in a year’s time rather than right now.
That at least buys Liverpool some time. The Dutchman is a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s side, and would be a huge miss if he were to leave.
The Guardian claim that Liverpool have held positive talks with Wijnaldum, in the hope of extending his stay at Anfield.

If they can push home a deal, Liverpool can move forward with little threat of Barcelona coming in to sign Wijnaldum any time soon.
If the contract talks with Wijnaldum head into 2021, Barcelona seem ready to move for him on a free transfer in what could be a nightmare for the Reds.
