Barcelona are reportedly keen to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld.

According to The Independent, Barcelona are interested in snapping up Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld as his contract situation remains an issue.
Alderweireld, 28, joined Spurs from Atletico Madrid for just £11.4m (The Guardian) back in the summer of 2015, pouncing after he started on loan for Southampton.
The centre back has now become one of the top centre backs in Europe, forming a sensational partnership with former Ajax and current Belgium international teammate Jan Vertonghen in the heart of the Spurs defence.

Now, with ongoing questions over Alderweireld’s future with Spurs given that he hasn’t signed a new contract, it’s clamed that Barcelona are interested in handing him a return to Spain.
Tottenham’s biggest problem?
Alderweireld’s contract situation has become a major talking point, and claims that Barcelona are prepared to make a ‘serious bid’ this summer will only exacerbate concerns.

It’s claimed that Alderweireld wants somewhere close to the £180,000-a-week that fellow defender Virgil van Dijk earns at Liverpool, and Spurs are some way from striking a deal.
With no agreement close and a £25m release clause that can be activated in 2019, Spurs fans are understandably concerned that Alderweireld will be on his way out of the club in the next 18 months.
Interest from Barcelona may well turn Alderweireld’s head, and a major bid this summer could just tempt chairman Daniel Levy into selling this summer – even if Spurs fans would be gutted.
