According to The Telegraph, Southampton defender Cedric Soares is attracting interest from Barcelona as they weigh up summer moves for a new right back.
Cedric, 24, joined Southampton from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2015, with the Saints needing a right back to replace Nathaniel Clyne following his move to Liverpool.
The Portugal international has been a regular ever since arriving on the South Coast, making 18 appearances last season as well as 24 this term, with his attacking play drawing rave reviews this season.
Having won Euro 2016 with Portugal last summer, Cedric is enjoying great success right now, and his performances for club and country appear to have attracted major interest from Barcelona.
The Telegraph report that the Catalan giants are plotting a move for Cedric at the end of the season, with the La Liga side looking to boost their options at right back.
Following Dani Alves’ exit to Juventus in 2015, Barcelona have been using the likes of Sergi Roberto and Aleix Vidal at right back, but neither are natural fits there, meaning they look likely to bring in a new signing this summer.

Cedric has now emerged as a possible option for the club, who appear to be lining up possible transfer targets despite lingering questions over the future of manager Luis Enrique following last week’s 4-0 Champions League defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.
It’s stated that, with Cedric only signing a new deal with Southampton until 2020 last summer, the Saints could demand as much as £15million for the right back, which is more than three times what they paid for him less than two years ago – which would again demonstrate Southampton’s profitable transfer policy.
