Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly face a battle to hold onto Eric Dier, with Barcelona now apparently monitoring his form.

Dier apparently caught Barca’s eye with his stunning performance in England’s dramatic Nations League win over Spain during the international break.
The performance led to Sam Allardyce suggesting on talkSPORT that Dier is as good as Barcelona star Sergio Busquets. And while the comments saw the one-time Three Lions boss face a lot of ridicule, it appears that Barcelona may not have had too dissimilar an idea.

The report adds that Barca plan to keep scouting Dier over the coming months as they weigh up whether to make a move for the 24-year-old at the end of the season.
Dier – who earns £60,000-a-week at Spurs, according to Spotrac – is perhaps not one of the biggest stars in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, but he is a hugely important member of the side for the exact reason that Barcelona now want him.
He has the ability to play almost any role asked of him. And with question marks lingering over the futures of both Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama – as reported by The Sun – letting Dier go will surely be something that Pochettino will be desperate to avoid.
