The Barcelona ace would be a sensational acquisition for Newcastle United.
Lionel Messi celebrates with Paco Alcacer
A report emanating from Spain this morning claims that Barcelona have made Paco Alcacer available for transfer in January, according to Spanish media outlet Diario Gol, with the 24-year-old failing to impress at the Camp Nou following his switch from Valencia in the summer of 2016.
The Spaniard joined the Catalan giants for a fee believed to be in the region of £27 million 15 months ago, but has scored just eight goals in 30 outings since then.
The talented forward still has a lot to offer at the very highest level, however, and there will be plenty of clubs interested in obtaining his signature following the news of his reported availability.

One club in particular who would benefit from signing Alcacer in January would be Newcastle United, with Rafa Bentiez’s side crying out for an established marksman.
Despite a solid start to their 2017/18 campaign, the Magpies have looked somewhat toothless in attack at times, and the Barcelona man’s impeccable technical ability, combined with his nouse in and around the penalty area would undoubtedly help add a certain level of potency to their play in the final third.
The 24-year-old has all of the attributes needed to play alongside a taller, more target-man type striker, and his arrival at St James’ Park could help bring the best out of Aleksandar Mitrovic, if the Serbian remains on Tyneside of course.

The report from Diario Gol doesn’t specify how much Barcelona will demand for Alcacer, but the Toon are surely capable of coming up with a financial package that would tempt the La Liga giants into selling.
And if Bentiez does manage to bring the Spaniard to Newcastle in January, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Magpies.
