FC Barcelona will reportedly make one last attempt to renew Ousmane Dembele’s contract, with Newcastle United one of the clubs ready to sign the winger this year.
According to Sport, the Catalan giants will try one more time to get the 24-year-old winger to pen a new deal with the club. However, it is likely that Dembele will again reject to stay with Barcelona, with the attacker set on leaving.
As per the report, Newcastle are interested in signing the France international, with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea also keen on Dembele, who could well leave before Monday’s transfer deadline.
As one of Barcelona’s highest-paid players, the Catalan club would be more than happy to sell Dembele if a new contract can’t be agreed. And for Newcastle, the winger would be one heck of a statement signing.
Indeed, Dembele’s Barca career has been a disaster. However, it is easy to forget that the attacker is only 24-years-old and could have his best years ahead of him, which is what makes the prospect of signing the Borussia Dortmund star an interesting one for many clubs.
Yet for Newcastle, Dembele could be the last player the northeast side need as we approach the final days of the January window.
Newcastle must other players over Barcelona outcast Dembele

After a financial takeover as grand as Newcastle’s, it is easy to get lost in the fantasy of the transfer market and all its possibilities. However, the Toon need to be sensible this month and sign players who can improve problem areas.
For Newcastle, a centre-back and central midfield remain the two biggest areas of weakness for the Toon. And whilst Dembele would be an unreal coup, the winger will do little to fix the problems that the Magpies currently have.
