According to RTV Rijnmond, Arsenal target Orkun Kokcu is now wanted by Barcelona as he prepares to leave Feyenoord at the end of the season.
It’s stated that Feyenoord think they can earn ‘a lot’ by selling Kokcu. They even have a belief that Kokcu could become their record sale, eclipsing the £16.2million they sold Dirk Kuyt for in 2006.
Arsenal are seemingly favourites to sign him. Back in March, the Daily Mail claimed that Arsenal were in talks about a £23million deal, with Edu keen to get the deal done quickly.
Just a week later though, football ground to a halt. The global pandemic has impacted finances around the world, and with Euro 2020 cancelled, Arsenal don’t have to fear Kokcu starring for Turkey.
They should though worry about being hijacked. These new reports in the Netherlands state that Barcelona have made contact with Feyenoord about signing Kokcu.
Voetbal International recently noted that Arsenal are expected to make an offer soon, but it may not come soon enough as Barcelona now prepare to move in.

The 19-year-old is seen as a creative talent in midfield, capable of playing as a central midfielder or as a number 10. That could make him Mesut Ozil’s successor at Arsenal, but Arsenal now need to move quickly.
Kokcu notched three goals and six assists this season, sparking Barcelona’s interest too. Arsenal may find it difficult to beat Barca to his signature, but will have to challenge them if they really want him.
