Barcelona reportedly want Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Barcelona have made a bid of £72 million for Liverpool attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho, according to The Daily Mail.

It has been reported that the Spanish giants see Coutinho as a potential replacement for Andres Iniesta, who is now 33 years of age.

However, according to the report, Liverpool are expected to reject the offer for the 25-year-old Brazil international, who can also operate as a winger.

Coutinho is one of the best attacking midfielders in the world and is absolutely integral to the way Jurgen Klopp’s side play.

While £72m is a lot of money, it would be hard for the Reds to find a readymade replacement for the former Inter Milan man.

Liverpool do not ‘need’ to sell Coutinho, and the Merseyside outfit should do their best to keep hold of the Brazilian.

The Reds finished fourth in the Premier League last season and will be aiming to progress to the group stage of the Champions League in 2017-18.

Klopp’s side will also be aiming to challenge for the Premier League campaign next season.
