Tottenham are admirers of Lyon ace.
Tottenham Hotspur failed in an attempt to sign Tanguy Ndombele in the summer, L’Equipe reported.
The defensive midfielder would still be an outstanding replacement for Mousa Dembele, the problem is he is looking even more unattainable.
Lyon are notoriously hard to negotiate with and despite Spurs expressing a desire to pay 40 million Euros, president Jean Michel Aulas made his stance clear.
Since the summer, there have been two extra reasons why Tottenham’s stance has got harder, and now a third.
Firstly, Ndombele has been proving his quality in the Champions League, and helped Lyon to an impressive away win over Manchester City earlier this season.
This week the midfielder earned his call up into the France squad and made his debut for Les Bleus against Uruguay last night.
Now Barcelona have joined the growing list of clubs linked with Ndombele’s signature.
French website BFMTV report Ndombele is high on Barcelona’s list, as a more expensive alternative to Adrien Rabiot.
Tottenham have been linked to Rabiot themselves – most recently by Le Parisien – and it makes a lot more sense for the North London side to focus on him, and walk away from Ndombele, whose transfer value is rapidly increasing.
