According to Footmercato, Barcelona and Arsenal are in talks over a player swap deal involving Philippe Coutinho and Matteo Guendouzi.

Coutinho just hasn’t got going in Barcelona following his move from Liverpool.

The Brazil international struggled to nail down a regular spot in 2018-19, before spending this past season on loan at German champions Bayern Munich.

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo stated Arsenal’s interest. The editorial adds that Barca seek an £80 million fee, while Coutinho wants to move back to the Premier League.

Arsenal’s financial situation, however, means a big-money move is unlikely.

The Gunners won’t have Champions League football to offer, while the global health pandemic will no doubt restrict clubs from making ground-breaking offers this summer.

The latest reports from France, however, claim a possible solution is being discussed.

Footmercato say the two clubs are in talks over Coutinho joining Arsenal, but with midfielder Guendouzi heading in the opposite direction.

The French midfielder was a regular in Arsenal’s side following his move from Lorient and showed great potential during his debut campaign at the Emirates Stadium.

But his display at Brighton and Hove Albion last month highlighted a potential attitude problem. Manager Mikel Arteta has since dropped the 21-year-old.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are said to admire Guendouzi and the Catalan club reportedly feel his spell in the Premier League would aid his chances of succeeding at the Nou Camp.
