Celtic goalkeeper Ross Doohan made 47 appearances for the Scottish Championship side in all competitions.

According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Ayr are already hoping to bring Celtic goalkeeper Ross Doohan back to the club on loan this summer.

Doohan spent this past season on loan with the Scottish Championship side, making 47 appearances in all competitions as Ian McCall’s men reached the play-offs. Ayr were defeated by Inverness Caledonian Thistle over the two legs, but it was still a very good campaign for the club, as well as Doohan personally.

The 21-year-old kept seven clean sheets in a row at one stage in the season, and only title-winners Ross County conceded fewer goals than the Honest Men.

Perhaps unsurprisingly therefore, The Scottish Sun reports Ayr are looking to take the Hoops youngster back on another loan spell next season as they look to go one better and secure promotion to the Scottish Premiership.

It will be interesting to see whether the Bhoys have bigger plans for Doohan. Their goalkeeper options arguably need freshening up this summer, with both Craig Gordon and Dorus De Vries coming towards the end of their careers.

If Scott Bain remains first-choice next season, Neil Lennon may perhaps be tempted to promote one of either Doohan or Conor Hazard – who has also been out on loan in the Championship – or may be interested in sending them out on loan to a Premiership side to test them at a higher level.
