Newcastle United are reportedly being rivalled by Atletico Madrid for Francois Kamano.

According to Le10 Sport, Atletico Madrid are now joining Newcastle United in the race to sign Bordeaux attacker Francois Kamano in 2019.

Kamano, 22, made his name with Bastia having arrived from Satellite FC in his native Guinea back in 2013, scoring seven times in 50 games.

The pacey wide man made his move in 2016, and after 16 goals in his first two seasons, he is really flourishing this term, attracting major interest in the process.

Kamano has smashed seven goals in his first nine league games this season, serving up dazzling displays from the left flank as he steps up to be Bordeaux’s star having lost Malcom over the summer.

Now though, Bordeaux risk losing Kamano too, as Calciomercato reported just last month that Newcastle United are keen to land the winger in the January transfer window.

However, Rafael Benitez may already be losing ground in the race for his signature, as Le10 Sport report that Atletico Madrid have now joined the battle to sign him having been scouting the winger in recent weeks.

Francois Kamano of Bordeaux scores a goal during the Europa League play off second leg between Grondins de Bordeaux and KAA Gent on August 30, 2018 in Bordeaux, France.

The one boost for Newcastle may just be that Atletico are willing to wait and see if Kamano can continue his fine form over the course of the season, with a move only in their sights for the summer.

That gives Newcastle an opportunity to try and secure a deal in January, which would force them to try and move quickly for a target, which hasn’t exactly been their strong point in recent years.

Wait any longer though, and Atletico – offering Champions League football and a La Liga title challenge – may just secure his signature at the end of the season.
