Atletico Madrid are preparing a €35 million (£30 million) bid for Leeds United target Matheus Cunha, according to Kicker.

What’s the story?

The Whites have been chasing the Brazilian striker all summer.

And, according to the latest report by Goal, Zenit St Petersburg have launched a £21.5 million offer in a bid to beat the Yorkshire outfit to the ace.

However, it seems Atletico Madrid are also keen and readying an offer of their own.

According to the German publication, the 22-year-old has turned down the offer from the Russian outfit.

Julian Nagelsmann called him a “huge talent” in 2020.

Leeds face fight to sign Cunha as Atletico ready bid

Signing Cunha was never going to be easy for Leeds but they now face a desperate fight as Atletico ready a bid.

The 22-year-old was in good form for Hertha Berlin last season despite their poor campaign. He scored eight times and registered eight assists across all competitions.

It’s a run of form that, coupled with his age, was always going to attract attention in the market. And it seems clubs are queueing up for the South American.

However, Leeds hold a trump card in the form of Marcelo Bielsa. The Argentine remains a huge attraction for players looking to improve and could yet have an influence on the 22-year-old’s future.
