Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have been offered Saul Níguez by Atletico Madrid in a swap deal involving Bernardo Silva, according to The Times.

Atletico have proposed sending the €70 million-rated (£60.24 million) Saul to City and signing fellow midfielder Silva in return.

Spain international midfielder Saul, 26, is unsettled at Atletico, while Portugal international Silva, who is also 26 and can operate as a winger as well, is willing to leave City this summer, according to the report.

Swap deal?

If both players are unsettled at their respective clubs, then a swap deal would make sense.

Saul has not had the best of seasons on a personal level at Atletico, who did win the La Liga title.

The Spaniard made 22 starts and 11 substitute appearances in La Liga this past season.

The Atletico no.8 scored two goals and gave one assist in those games.

Saul also played six times in the Champions League for the Madrid club.

Silva made 24 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for City this past season.

The Portugal international scored two goals and gave six assists in those games.

The City no.20 also scored one goal and gave two assists in 13 Champions League games for City in 2020-21.
