Report: Aston Villa’s James Chester wanted by Premier League quartet, including Burnley

Aston Villa will reportedly have their work cut out trying to keep James Chester away from the exit this summer.

According to a report from Birmingham Live, Aston Villa defender James Chester is attracting attention from at least four Premier League sides this summer, including Sean Dyche’s Burnley.

Chester has been a fantastic signing for the Villans since arriving from West Brom in 2016. The centre-back has been consistently solid as Steve Bruce’s men came within one game of securing their return to the Premier League. Unfortunately however, Fulham’s victory at Wembley has left Villa with serious problems to contend with this summer.

Birmingham Live reports that Villa have the kind of financial concerns that will force them to consider bids for some of their key players this summer, and Chester is one of those who could have perhaps already played his final game for the club heading into the summer.

Birmingham Live adds that at least four top flight sides are keen on the Wales international, with Burnley and Brighton among those interested in pursuing a deal for the 29-year-old stalwart, who Villa would love to keep hold of if they are able to.

Losing Chester would be a massive blow for Bruce’s men, not least because it would come just after John Terry left the Villans in the wake of their failure to secure promotion out of the second tier.

But with Villa’s current worries well documented, Burnley and the rest of the interested Premier League sides will be hoping that they can land one of the Championship’s most impressive performers from this past season for a bargain fee.
