Aston Villa have failed in a move to sign Hull City striker Abel Hernandez.

According to BBC Sport, Aston Villa had agreed a deal to sign Hull City striker Abel Hernandez, but the move fell apart over personal terms.
Villa had already splashed the cash on one new striker already this summer in Ross McCormack, but have now done it again by landing Jonathan Kodjia from Bristol City.

BBC claim that Villa have paid £11m rising to £15m for Ivorian international Kodjia, who smashed 19 goals in the Championship last season, and he’ll now spearhead the Villa attack.
However, BBC also report that Villa had a deal agreed to sign Hull City hitman Abel Hernandez before signing Kodjia, but an impasse whilst discussing personal terms led to the collapse of the move.

Hernandez, 26, smashed 20 league goals last season as Hull won promotion to the Premier League, whilst he’s also got off the mark in the top flight this term with a goal against Swansea City.
The Uruguayan international is a key player for a thin Hull side this season, but Villa seemingly made an audacious attempt to land him ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

The Daily Mail claimed on Monday that Villa offered £14m for Hernandez, and it seems that that report was true – but Villa haven’t been able to land the former Palermo striker, and have instead tied up a deal for Kodjia today.
In fact, Villa owner Tony Xia has taken to Twitter today to all-but confirm the reports, stating that Villa did reach an agreement with Hull for Hernandez, but couldn’t get the deal over the line.
