Aston Villa are set to make an appointment of a technical director in the near future.

According to the Telegraph, Aston Villa’s new owners have not fully involved Steve Bruce in the selection of their side’s new technical director.

Villa are expecting to appoint a technical director imminently, as the claret and blues work on strengthening behind the scenes.

Bruce has been informed of the move, but he hasn’t been fully involved in the selection process.

Instead it is chief executive Christian Purslow who has been given control of the appointment.

The decision is thought to be bad news for Bruce, who is now under extreme pressure.

The Telegraph report that the experienced boss now has just two games to save his job at Villa Park.

Villa take on Preston North End and Millwall in their next outings, and at least three points has been set as a minimum target.
