According to the Express and Star, both Aaron Tshibola and Gary Gardner could come back into the first-team fold at Aston Villa next season.

Tshibola and Gardner were both loaned out by Villa last term, with Steve Bruce deeming them surplus to requirements.

However, Villa’s financial struggles means that all options are being considered by Bruce.

Villa are expected to lose a number of key players, with every member of their squad seemingly up for sale.

The claret and blues need to raise funds desperately, and if they lose their current midfield options then Tshibola and Gardner are both said to be considered options for Bruce.

Tshibola’s career has stalled in recent times, after a failed loan spell with MK Dons and a slightly more productive one with Kimarnock.

Gardner, meanwhile, played 29 times for Barnsley last term, but was unable to stop them from being relegated.

At the moment the pair have a lot of players to beat to break back into Villa’s team, but if the likes of Mile Jedinak and Birkir Bjarnason move on, they could become important players for Bruce again.
