Tim Sherwood’s side have fended off competition from Liverpool and Stoke City for the highly rated youngster.
Aston Villa have won the race to sign Barcelona starlet Adama Traore, according to reports in Spanish news outlet AS.
Tim Sherwood’s side have managed to fight off Premier League rivals Stoke City and Liverpool to secure the youngster, with the player having decided that Villa Park is the better option at this stage of his career – with competition for places likely to be more intense at the Britannia Stadium and Anfield.
Although the report in AS doesn’t mention a fee as yet, it is their belief that Traore has signed a three-year deal with Villa, with the option of another year also included should things work out well for all parties.
The move is unlikely to be an expensive one though, with ESPN claiming that he has a release clause of €6m in his contract, which equates to around £4.2million.
An excellent deal for Villa
At that price, Villa will be delighted, with Traore regarded as one the brightest talents to emerge from the La Masia academy system in recent years.
He has been unable to force his way into the first team in Catalunya, but that shouldn’t be an issue in England, with there not a lot of competition for the right wing berth in the Villa squad at present.
Indeed, the Barca youngster would almost be guaranteed first-team football should Sherwood give him the opportunity.
At just 19 as well, the player is only going to get better, with game time in the Premier League likely to help improve his game further, while such a low fee means the pressure is off should things not go to plan.
