Aston Villa are reportedly pursuing West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi.

According to BBC Sport, Aston Villa are keen on West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi – and Dean Smith went to watch him over the weekend.
Villa have today tied up the permanent signing of defender Tyrone Mings, becoming their third defensive addition this summer alongside Kortney Hause and Matt Targett.
Yet having seen Axel Tuanzebe head back to Manchester United, Villa need another centre back to go with Mings, and they’ve been linked with a number of them.
Now, it’s believed that Villa are eyeing a move for Hegazi, and even travelled to Cairo to watch Egypt take on South Africa in the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.
Villa were primarily watching Kasimpasa winger Trezeguet, but also wanted to Hegazi ahead of a possible move to bring him from The Hawthorns to Villa Park.
Hegazi, 28, impressed for West Brom on loan from Al Ahly in the 2017-18 season, and signed permanently last summer despite the Baggies’ relegation.

The 6ft 4in defender has racked up more than 80 appearances for West Brom, becoming a dependable centre back, with his height and aerial ability making him an effective defender.
Hegazi may not be a flashy signing, or even one for the future, but he could be a solid budget option for Villa, with West Brom needing to sell a couple of players this summer – and after watching him over the weekend, a bid may well materialise soon.
