Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout is reportedly wanted by French club Saint-Etienne in the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa want more than £4 million for Jordan Veretout, according to The Mirror (transfer blog, Sunday, 09:48am).

It has been reported that French club Saint-Etienne have made an offer of £4m for Veretout, but the Villans are holding out for more.

According to The Birmingham Mail, Villa paid Nantes a transfer fee of £9 million in the summer of 2015 in order to secure the services of the 24-year-old midfielder.

The former France Under-21 international has failed to make an impact at Villa Park and spent the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Saint-Etienne.

Veretout scored three goals and provided four assists in 35 Ligue 1 appearances for Saint-Etienne last season, according to WhoScored.

The French midfielder also featured in seven Europa League games for the Ligue 1 outfit in 2016-17, according to WhoScored.

Villa endured a disappointing 2016-17 campaign and will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship next season.
