Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Sam Johnstone from Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Aston Villa are interested in signing Sam Johnstone from Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to The Birmingham Mail.
It has been reported that Johnstone is available on a loan deal in January, and that Villa are ready to make a move.
“Villa’s coaching team want to strengthen the goalkeeping department with Pierluigi Gollini still trying to find consistency,” states the report in The Birmingham Mail.
“Fellow stoppers Mark Bunn and Jed Steer are also sidelined so Johnstone has been targeted.”

Johnstone is a talented goalkeeper and is 23 years of age, and he would be a decent signing for Villa.
The former England Under-20 international has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League for United.
The custodian has played for a number of clubs on loan over the past few years, including Doncaster Rovers and Preston North End.

The 23-year-old has the experience of playing in the Championship, and that would be a bonus for Villa.
The Villans are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Steve Bruce’s side are 13th in the league table at the moment with 28 points from 20 matches.
Villa are only three points behind Sheffield Wednesday, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.
