Aston Villa have been impressed by Sunderland loanee Lewis Grabban’s form, and may now approach Bournemouth with an offer.

Grabban has been fantastic for the Black Cats this term and is arguably the reason that they currently find themselves within touching distance of safety in the Championship – with the 29-year-old scoring 11 goals in 17 appearances, including one in the defeat to Villa in November.

Villa are doing well in the second tier this season. Following their goalless draw with Millwall on Saturday, Steve Bruce’s men find themselves fifth in the table, just six points off the automatic-promotion places.

Bruce is seemingly keen to bolster his striker options, with The Sun on Sunday reporting that he would like to try and bring the Cherries man to Villa Park – but Financial Fair Play is likely to make a deal difficult.
The Sun on Sunday suggests that the Villans may need to strike some sort of initial loan deal with Bournemouth where they agree that they will sign the striker at the end of the season if they want to get a move across the line.
Signing Grabban may be something of a gamble for Villa, but there is no question that they should look to bolster their attacking options in January to ensure that they do not throw away the hard work that they have put in so far to get themselves in promotion contention.
Grabban has already reached double figures for a side that looks set to be fighting against relegation this season, and if he did make a move to Villa and managed to replicate that form, you would imagine that Bruce’s men would definitely find themselves in the top six after 46 games.
