According to The Athletic, Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is simply too expensive for Aston Villa to sign in the January transfer window.
It’s claimed that Villa could look to sign a new striker, having already looked at Bournemouth attacker Josh King.
Villa also fancy Celtic star Edouard, but Dean Smith’s men allegedly don’t want to spend the kind of money the Bhoys would be seeking.
AC Milan do still want Edouard according to this report, but Villa are seemingly backing out of the race for the Frenchman.
Edouard starred last season with a whopping 28 goals and 19 assists in 47 games for Celtic, and has still bagged nine goals in 19 appearances this term despite a perceived dip in form.
The 22-year-old looks destined for a big move from Celtic one day, but it seems that he won’t be heading to Villa in next month’s transfer window.

Villa’s reluctance isn’t a surprise, as they splashed a huge £28million on Ollie Watkins over the summer, with that deal rising to £33million over time.
Spending similar money on Edouard just doesn’t make sense, so if Villa are to add another striker, it may be a loan or cheap signing to cope until Wesley returns around March.
