Callum Kealy was released by Brighton in 2016 but Aston Villa and Fulham appear willing to hand the striker another chance at the top.

Aston Villa went into the summer with a glut of striking options at their disposal. The Midland giants spend over £40 million in 2016/17 to bring Jonathan Kodjia (above), Ross McCormack and Scott Hogan to Villa Park while Gabby Agbonlahor started the season in form, netting on the opening day against Hull City.

Just 12 games into the new season, however, and the Birmingham Mail reports that Villa are already looking to boost their attacking options again – albeit with a 19-year-old completely unproven at Championship level.

The report states that Aston Villa, as well as Championship rivals Fulham, are keeping tabs on non-league scoring sensation Callum Kealy.

The 19-year-old has scored four goals in eight games for Isthmian League Premier Division side Met Police, moving after an impressive spell at fellow non-league outfit Lewes last season.

Kealy was released by Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2016 despite impressing for their academy side but his fine form since dropping down the divisions could earn him a second chance at a high level.

Aston Villa boast some of the most exciting young talent in the Football League at present and Kealy should be enthused by the fact that manager Steve Bruce has been willing to give a number of these unproven prospects an opportunity to impress in 2017/18.

Teenage striker Keinan Davis has become one of the first names on the team sheet while Andre Green and Callum O’Hare have impressed hugely when given a chance in the senior side in recent weeks.
