Aston Villa are set to ramp up their efforts to secure a transfer for Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara after luring Steven Gerrard from Ibrox as their new manager, per the Daily Record.
Gerrard left Glasgow for Birmingham on Thursday and signed a three-and-a-half-year deal to replace Dean Smith in the hot seat.
Kamara could now follow Gerrard to the Premier League side, with the Villans already firm admirers of the Finland international.

Aston Villa have scouted Kamara closely over the last few transfer windows and considered a £6m bid this summer.
Sporting Director Johan Lange is a big fan of the 26-year-old, and could revive Aston Villa’s interest if Gerrard backs a move to now raid Ibrox for one of his star Rangers performers.
Kamara joined Rangers under Gerrard’s watch for just £45k in January 2019 after striking a Deadline Day deal with Dundee.
The midfielder had already agreed a pre-contract to move to Glasgow on a free transfer the following summer, with his Dees deal set to expire.
Gerrard made Kamara one of the best midfielders in Scotland during their time together. But the £21k-a-week star has never hidden his desire to test himself in the Premier League.

Should Aston Villa eye Rangers raid for Kamara transfer?
Rangers would be loath to lose Kamara, especially to Aston Villa after Gerrard’s departure to replace Smith earlier this week.
But the Gers’ current business model means they will need to sell key players. And could include Kamara, despite him signing a lucrative contract in September running until 2025.
That’s because The Athletic reported Kamara’s new deal features a ‘compromise’ that will see Rangers sell the possible Aston Villa transfer target if a suitable bid comes in for him.
Gerrard knows what Kamara would be able to offer in England after playing the 38-cap ace 123 times in Scotland. And seeing him score five and assist seven goals in all competitions.
Kamara has found the net once and assisted twice so far this season after 17 appearances. With his only goal and latest assist coming in a 6-1 demolition of Motherwell last month.
