Aston Villa are reportedly in talks over their second signing of the January transfer window, with Kortney Hause close to making the move.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Aston Villa are set to pay £2 million to sign Kortney Hause from Wolverhampton Wanderers this month, while the deal will also include a sell-on clause.

Dean Smith seems to be wasting little time as he looks to make changes to the squad that he inherited from Steve Bruce. Lovre Kalinic was signed before the window even opened, and it appears that the next new face may not be too far away.

The Mail reports that the Villans are in talks with the Premier League side regarding a deal for the 23-year-old, who has barely featured for Wolves since Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed as manager before the start of last season.

According to the Mail, Villa are discussing paying an initial £2 million for the defender, while a sell-on clause is also set to be included in the deal.

Given how little Hause has played under Nuno, it appears that it could be a decent piece of business for Wolves – even if the fee does not hand their own transfer kitty the biggest boost.

If Hause realises his potential at Villa, Wolves could receive a good amount further down the line, while Smith will be able to reflect on an inspired deal given that spending £2 million is hardly a bid risk for a club of Villa’s stature.
