Aston Villa, Liverpool and Newcastle United are among the clubs reportedly interested in Southampton’s Matt Targett.

Aston Villa will make a bid for Southampton youngster Matt Targett, according to The Express & Star.
It has been reported that Villa – who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship – will make a formal bid of £8 million for the 23-year-old, who can operate as a left-back or as a left wing-back.

Villa, though, are not the only club who are reported to be interested in signing Targett from Southampton.
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Arsenal, Fulham and Leicester City all are looking at securing the services of the former England Under-21 international.

Targett is a very good and promising young left-back, and the 23-year-old would be a decent signing for the Villans.
The Southampton man may not be the first-choice left-back straightaway, but the youngster – who earns £35,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – but he will provide Neil Taylor with much-needed competition.
