Robert Snodgrass is on loan at Aston Villa from West Ham United, and has impressed for the Championship side.

After a difficult spell at the London Stadium, Snodgrass ended up joining the Villans on a season-long loan during the summer window in the hope that he could help the club get themselves back into the Premier League.

And the 30-year-old has certainly proved to be an excellent signing, with two goals and five assists coming in his 17 Championship appearances for Steve Bruce’s men that has helped put the club in the play-off places in the second tier with nearly half the season gone.
With the January transfer window just around the corner, some Villa fans may be wanting the side to see if they could try and put together some kind of permanent bid as early as next month, but the Birmingham Mail reports that, while Villa do want to sign the Scotsman on a permanent basis, they are currently planning to move next summer.

It would certainly be no surprise at all if the Hammers were willing to let him go after co-chairman David Sullivan publicly spoke in negative terms about the decision to sign the winger last January, as reported by the Daily Mirror.
And while Steve Bruce’s mind may perhaps be made up on what he wants to do with Snodgrass’ future, he may be hoping that the uncertainty helps the wide-man keep focused and determined to prove a point that will then see Villa’s promotion hopes boosted.
