Aston Villa, Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen on Michael Carrick.

According to The Mirror, Aston Villa are ready to battle Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion in the race to sign Manchester United’s Michael Carrick.
Carrick, 36, joined United from Tottenham Hotspur way back in the summer of 2006, and has now racked up more than 450 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 24 goals during his time at the club.
The veteran midfielder, who has notched 34 caps for England, has been a fixture of the United midfield for more than ten years now, but he has struggled for playing time this season.
Despite signing a one-year deal last season, Carrick hasn’t made a single appearance in the Premier League this season, and it’s now claimed that he could be a target for a number of clubs.
The Mirror report that Carrick is wanted by Aston Villa, and they are preparing to battle Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion in the race to sign the midfielder.
Carrick may fancy staying in the Premier League if he does leave Old Trafford, with West Brom boss Tony Pulis partial to signing veteran midfielders in recent years, such as Carrick’s ex-United teammate Darren Fletcher and more recently Gareth Barry.

A move to Villa would be something of a surprise though, as it would involve him dropping into the Championship whilst Villa already have two experienced holding midfielders in Mile Jedinak and Glenn Whelan.
Villa have though shown that they are prepared to pay big wages for veteran players such as Whelan, John Terry and even loanee Robert Snodgrass, and manager Steve Bruce may see Carrick’s experience as vital to his chances of promotion back to the Premier League.
