According to Sky Sports, Wayne Hennessey is now expected to join Burnley after being released by Crystal Palace, despite interest from Aston Villa.
What’s the story?
Well, the Birmingham Mail recently claimed that the Villans were monitoring Hennessey, after the departure of Tom Heaton.
With 181 Premier League appearances and 96 caps for Wales, the 34-year-old would’ve been a fine deputy for Emiliano Martinez.
However, it now looks as if Hennessey will be teaming up with Sean Dyche at Burnley, after he left Selhurst Park following the end of his contract.
The former Wolves shot-stopper left south London after falling down to third in the pecking order, behind Vicente Guaita and Jack Butland.
Not a big deal for Aston Villa

Dean Smith has one of the best glovesmen in the Premier League right now in Martinez, so this isn’t a huge deal for Aston Villa.
In Jed Steer, Smith also has someone competent enough to deputise for the Argentine, who kept 15 clean sheets in the Premier League last term.
Only Ederson and Edouard Mendy recorded more shutouts.

It would’ve been nice to add Hennessey’s experience to the squad.
However, we highly doubt Smith will be ripping his hair out after losing the Welshman to Burnley.
