West Bromwich Albion are reportedly on the verge of landing the 28-year-old striker, but Aston Villa appear prepared.
A report in The Sun has suggested that Aston Villa have identified their number one target as they prepare for Rudy Gestede’s move to West Bromwich Albion during the January transfer window.
The Sun reports that Tony Pulis has watched the 28-year-old on a regular basis this season, and is now set to bring him to the Hawthorns for £7 million next month.
Rudy Gestede
While Steve Bruce may be concerned about the idea of losing his second highest goalscorer midway through the campaign, and just when they are beginning to establish a play-off push, it appears that he has a contingency plan already in mind.
The Sun adds that Brentford’s Scott Hogan is on Bruce’s wishlist. And while the 24-year-old recently told Get West London that he does not plan to move to another Championship club, he will surely feel that the Villans have almost everything in place to get back to the highest level and re-establish themselves there.
Scott Hogan
And if Hogan does end up moving to Villa Park, and manages to replicate the form he has shown for the Bees this term, there is no question that Bruce’s men will stand a much greater chance of forcing their way into the top six.
Hogan has scored 13 times in just 22 league games this season, so it would hardly be a surprise if he is able to hit the ground running if he does ultimately make a switch.
