Jack Colback appears to have no future at Newcastle United and Aston Villa hope to take advantage.
Few Newcastle United fans will mourn the exit of Jack Colback if, as expected, the midfielder is shoved out of St James’ Park this summer.
The 27-year-old’s stock has fallen dramatically at the North East club and he hit a new low earlier this month when the Daily Mail reported that Colback will be omitted from Rafael Benitez’s 25-man Premier League squad after a training ground row with the manager.

As such, the report claims that he has played his last game for the club, though his £40,000-a-week wages could prove a stumbling block as Newcastle attempt to clear out the deadwood.
Yet, according to The Chronicle, this has not put off Aston Villa.
Manager Steve Bruce warned the Championship strugglers, who sit second bottom after picking up just one point from their first three games, that they could not simply buy themselves out of trouble but Colback could be a solid signing if he does indeed arrive.
Magpies to Midlands
Though hardly the most eye-catching or exciting midfielder, the former Sunderland youngster is a hard worker and strong in the tackle, meaning he could provide some much needed protection in front of a backline which has been breached five times in the last two games.
The report adds that Newcastle will listen to offers for Colback, meaning Villa may harbour hope that they could get him on the cheap due to The Magpies’ desire to sell.

Colback was called up to the England squad in the autumn of 2014 after a super start to his first season as a Newcastle player before being forced to pull out with injury. However, it’s fair to say those days are a long way off now.
