Aston Villa have received some positive injury news regarding Scott Hogan.

A report in the Express and Star has suggested that Aston Villa have received an injury boost as they start their preparations for the summer as Scott Hogan is set to be fit for the start of pre-season.

Hogan has endured a fairly difficult time since arriving at Villa Park for £12 million during the January transfer window, with just one goal coming in his first 13 appearances, while injury has also been a key part of the narrative following his move from Brentford.

And some fans may have been worried when he suffered an ankle injury on the final day of the campaign in the draw with Brighton, especially as it was an ankle problem that ruled him out for a month earlier in the season, the Express and Star reports.

However, the Express and Star is now suggesting that Hogan has suffered no lasting damage and will be ready when the team returns for pre-season.

With Jonathan Kodjia out until after the start of the new campaign (via Express and Star), Hogan’s situation will be particularly pleasing for Bruce as he looks to build a team capable of challenging for promotion after their underwhelming year this time around.

And while the 25-year-old has struggled since moving to Villa, he showed during his time with Brentford that he can be a lethal striker in the second tier, so perhaps a full pre-season will be exactly what he needs to help him find his feet for his current side.
