The claret and blues also want a new goalkeeper, two midfielders and another winger according to the report.
Smith has shown a ruthless approach since promotion, with Villa’s starting line-up on the first day of the new season potentially looking very different to the one which featured in the play off final.
The Midlands side have shown great ambition, and if Smith’s completes his transfer plan, there will surely be confidence around Villa that they can comfortably avoid the drop next term.
