Callum O’Hare is set to leave Aston Villa on a free after rejecting a new contract at the Premier League strugglers, according to Coventry Live.

Could the Villains lose not only captain fantastic Jack Grealish but also the man many think could be his heir apparent during the same transfer window?

Regardless of whether Dean Smith’s free-falling side can pull off a great escape that even David Blaine would be proud to call his own, Grealish appears to have outgrown the Villa Park pond.

At least the Midland giants will be able to command a sizeable fee for one of the most influential players in the Premier League.

O’Hare, in stark contrast, could leave for next to nothing.

Coventry Live reports that the 22-year-old, who is out of contract in July, has rejected the chance to sign fresh terms at his parent club. As a result, Aston Villa could lose arguably their most exciting academy graduate since Grealish himself for a compensation fee of just £200,000.

O’Hare’s dainty dribbling and twinkle-toed technique helped perennial crisis-club Coventry win the League One title this season and the Championship newcomers would jump at the chance to sign their influential loanee on a permanent basis.

“Those lads have been brilliant and I can’t thank them enough,” manager Mark Robins said when asked if he would be interested in keeping his on-loan stars, including O’Hare.

“Let’s see what transpires through this next transfer window. It looks like recruitment will take care of itself.

“We know what we want, the players we’re after and who we’re targeting and we’ll look to get them over the line as quickly as we possibly can.”
