Manchester United are interested in signing Tyrone Mings from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021, according to ESPN.

It has been reported that United are on the hunt for a new centre-back, and that Mings is among the players on the Red Devils’ shortlist.

The report has claimed that United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has placed the Villa centre-back along with Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, Raphael Varane of Real Madrid and Braga’s David Carmo on his shortlist.

Big player for Aston Villa

Mings spent the second half of the 2018-19 season on loan at Villa from Bournemouth before making the move permanent in the summer of 2019 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £20 million.

The 27-year-old has established himself as an important player for Villa and is a leader at the back.

According to WhoScored, the England international central defender has scored two goals and provided one assist in 20 league games for the Villans so far this season.

Villa are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with 35 points from 21 matches, just five points behind fourth-placed and defending English champions Liverpool, who have played 23 games.

While United are a massive club and are one of the biggest in the world, if Villa get into the Champions League next season, then they will have no reason to even entertain any offers for Mings.
