Aston Villa’s search for a new manager appears to be reaching a conclusion.
Aston Villa’s players are expecting Steve Bruce to be confirmed as their new manager before they return to action to face Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Birmingham Mail reported recently that the Championship side had been keeping their options somewhat open as they look to appoint Roberto Di Matteo’s successor, with a mystery candidate joining Bruce and current caretaker Steve Clarke in the running.
Villa are still looking for Roberto Di Matteo’s successor
However, the Mirror is now claiming that senior members of the Villans’ squad have spoken to members of Bruce’s camp and have been led to believe that the former Hull boss will be unveiled imminently.
Announcing Bruce’s arrival before the weekend will undoubtedly provide the squad with the kind of boost they need following the international break.

Villa are currently languishing in the bottom-half of the second tier two points above the bottom three. Unlike many of the teams down there however, the Midlands side have been ahead on several occasions this term but have simply struggled to see games out.
But Bruce boasts an excellent track record at that level having secured numerous promotions to the Premier League, including with Hull City last season, so he will be more than confident that he can help the side rediscover the winning formula.
