Villa have almost completed another midfield signing.
Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Iceland international midfielder Birkir Bjarnason with the Basel star due for a medical on Wednesday, according to the Birmingham Mail.
Vill ahave already completed one midfield signing this month in the form of Nottingham Forest captain Henri Lansbury, and it has been widely reported that they will add Barnsley star Conor Hourihane.
Now, though, it appears as though an under-the-radar deal for Bjarnason is set to be completed in time for the weekend.

Bjarnason, who was the scorer of Iceland’s first ever major tournament finals goal at Euro 2016 in the summer, has been playing in Switzerland for Basel since joining the club in 2015 from Pescara.
Though largely an unknown quantity before (and largely since) his exploits for Iceland last summer, the 28-year-old has experience playing in Switzerland, Italy, Belgium and Norway.
He has won 57 caps for his country and has extensive experience playing in the Champions League with his current club.

A goalscoring midfielder of sorts, the Icelander has netted 16 times in 57 league and European games during his time in Switzerland.
The Birmingham Mail claim that he is due at Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training ground for a medical on Wednesday ahead of completing his move.
It is unclear from the report whether the move is likely to be permanent or a loan deal.
A central midfielder by trade, Bjarnason has often found himself out wide for club and country, meaning that he also offers versatility.
Villa fans will surely be pleased to see the club addressing their problems in the middle of the park if Bjarnason does indeed follow Lansbury into B6.
