Aston Villa are said to be on the hunt to sign Barnsley defender Marc Roberts.

According to a report in the Sheffield Star, Aston Villa are plotting £5 million bid for Barnsley defender Marc Roberts.
Villa only have a limited amount of funds to spend this summer, but once they have offloaded some of their fringe players, they are expected to move for Roberts.
The claret and blues had problems at centre-back last campaign, but believe Roberts would improve the quality of their options.

The 26-year-old was one of the stand out players in the Championship last season – with his performances for Barnsley impressing.
Barnsley are understood to be keen to keep hold of the defender, but they have shown a willingness to sell in recent times.
The Tykes have lost a number of their key players, with Villa already signing James Bree from Oakwell in January.

If Roberts did move to Villa he would be in competition with the likes of Nathan Baker and James Chester for a first-team place.
