Aston Villa are reportedly planning to make an approach for Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers this week, while Eddie Howe is also on the Villans’ radar.

The Villans have taken little time to get their search for Steve Bruce’s successor underway, and the Daily Record reports that discussions have already been held with the likes of Thierry Henry.
But Villa are now looking to switch their attention to Rodgers as they continue to assess their options. The Report adds that the Championship side are set to ask the Hoops for permission to talk to their manager in the hope of conducting an interview this week.
Interestingly, the Record suggests that Bournemouth manager Howe is also on Villa’s shortlist, but it is not clear whether the club will make any plans to reach out to the Cherries.

Howe surely out of Villa’s reach?
It would be a remarkable turn of events if Villa managed to lure Howe away from the Vitality Stadium. The Cherries are currently sixth in the Premier League and appear to be in with a fantastic chance of upsetting the apple cart this season.

Villa would have to do an incredible job to tempt Howe to even consider a move, let alone swap Bournemouth for the currently-mid-table Championship side.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how Celtic and Rodgers respond to any potential approach from Villa. The Hoops were sensational at the weekend and looked much more like the side that strolled to two domestic Trebles, so perhaps that performance may be exactly what Rodgers needed.
