Chelsea want Tammy Abraham to head out on loan as Aston Villa continue to work extremely hard to get a deal across the line.

Chelsea would prefer for Tammy Abraham to go out on loan as Aston Villa continue to try and convince the striker to join the club in the final days of the window, according to the Telegraph.

The 20-year-old’s future has been a talking point for much of the summer. An inspired spell with Bristol City was followed by a much more disappointing stint in the Premier League with Swansea last season, leaving the Blues with a tricky decision ahead of the coming campaign.

The Telegraph reports that Chelsea want the England international to head out on loan, but the forward is unconvinced about leaving Stamford Bridge with another spell in the Championship or a move abroad his current options following the closure of the Premier League window.

The Telegraph adds that Villa are continuing to work extremely hard to get something done, but may have to be prepared to wait until the last minute to actually get a deal across the line with Abraham currently unsure regarding where his future lies.

It would be a coup for the Villans to sign Abraham if they do manage to complete a move. Steve Bruce’s side are amongst the highest goalscorers in the second tier during the opening handful of games, but no player in their squad has scored more than once in the league thus far.

That ability to find goals from everywhere will undoubtedly boost their chances of replicating their performance from last season, and perhaps going one step further. But it does still perhaps highlight that they do not have as much depth as they would like up front.

Waiting for Abraham’s decision is a risk, but if he does end up joining, it could prove to be a superb piece of business that many of their Championship rivals will be very envious of.
