Aston Villa hope to make an addition to their coaching team before their next game.
A report in the Birmingham Mail has claimed that Aston Villa hope to confirm the appointment of Steve Bruce’s assistant manager before their first game back following the international break.
Bruce has taken charge of five games since replacing Roberto Di Matteo at Villa Park, but is still awaiting the appointment of his number two.

However, the Mail suggests that the club are optimistic about making a breakthrough in the search for his assistant before they take to the pitch to face Brighton next Friday.
The Mail adds that Keith Bertschin and Middlesbrough’s Steve Agnew are amongst the names that Aston Villa are considering, but while Bruce will get a say, the decision will ultimately be made by the club.

That, according to the Mail, is because Villa want to limit the upheaval involved if, for whatever reason, Bruce ends up leaving the club in the future.
With Bruce already beginning to turn things around at the Midlands side – they remain unbeaten under their new manager – the hierarchy may feel that making the right appointment could provide the squad with an additional lift.
