Aston Villa are keen to make a move for Burnley winger George Boyd, just months after they failed to sign him.

A report from the Birmingham Mail has suggested that Aston Villa are planning to revive their interest in Burnley winger George Boyd as he looks destined to quit Turf Moor this summer.
Villa attempted to land the 31-year-old during the January transfer window, but ultimately missed out. However, the Mail reports that the opportunity is likely to present itself again during the coming months.

The wide-man has rejected a new deal with Clarets, the Mail reports and is now set to leave the club imminently with Steve Bruce keen to be reunited with Boyd three years after they worked together at Hull City.
However, it appears that a deal for the former Scotland international is by no means in the bag with Boyd wanting to receive a three-year contract from his next club, while the Mail suggests that it is unclear whether Villa are prepared to make such an offer.
Boyd will obviously be 34 by the time that deal concludes, and while his form during his first two years with Burnley was impressive, his goals and assists return during the most recent campaign was arguably disappointing.

He scored twice and contributed one assist in the top flight. And while he may well be able to make an impact for Villa while they are in the Championship if he did join, there may perhaps be doubts as to whether he will still be an important member of the squad if they achieve their ambition for the upcoming season, which surely has to be promotion.
But it cannot be argued that with the winger available on a free transfer, trying to reach a compromise on the terms could lead to the club pulling off a tremendous piece of business.
