Aston Villa reportedly believe that they have a strong chance of signing Bristol City’s Adam Webster.

According to a report from Bristol Live, Aston Villa are optimistic that they are on their way towards sealing a deal for Bristol City defender Adam Webster, with the two clubs set to reach a compromise over the fee.
Bristol Live reports that the Robins rejected a £12 million from the Villans for the 24-year-old, with Lee Johnson’s men keen to bag £30 million for the centre-back.
But the report is now suggesting that Villa are hopeful that a compromise will be reached, with Dean Smith’s side looking to pay between £20 million and £25 million for the former Portsmouth man.
Bristol Live adds that City are reluctant to stand in Webster’s way of playing in the Premier League, despite their desire to keep the Villa target at Ashton Gate.

Another statement from Villa?
Smith’s men have wasted little time getting stuck into the transfer window following their Championship play-off final win. They have signed four players, and will be hoping that they can quickly add to those numbers.
Webster’s arrival would be a key one. Villa certainly need to add to their defensive ranks, and Webster’s form last season suggests that he will more than capable of stepping up another level if he gets the chance to make the switch to the Midlands.
