Aston Villa defender Leander Dendoncker, who joined the club last summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £15 million, now looks set to be made available for transfer by manager Unai Emery.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who claim that Aston Villa will demand £9-10 million for Leander Dendoncker.

The 28-year-old made 21 appearances in Claret and Blue last season, but now looks set to depart with several Ligue 1 giants ready to swoop in.

The report claims that Rennes and Nice have expressed an interest in the former Anderlecht defender.

Olympique Lyon had previously registered an interest in the defender, but that interest has since cooled due to the signing of 27-year-old Renato Tapia from Celta Vigo.

The Daily Mail reported last summer than Villa paid Wolves £15 million to sign Dendoncker.

And now it seems that the Villans are ready to sell him for a £5 million loss.

The defender is also reportedly ‘open to any kind of proposal’ if one were to come forward.

Dendoncker will be hoping that teams come forward for him, with there also being supposed interest from England and Italy, according to that same report.

The Belgian defender’s game time only looks set to decrease with the looming return of Brazilian defender Diego Carlos, who had been out of action for the majority of last season with an Achilles tendon rupture.

With the defender now back fit, the prospect of breaking into the first team for the former Wolves man looks unlikely.

A £10 million transfer would represent a £5 million loss for Villa, but recouping the majority of the fee would represent decent business for Emery’s side.

With the looming arrival of Spanish defender Pau Torres, a former player under Emery at Villarreal, it looks to be a win-win for club and player
