Aston Villa want Charlton Athletic talent Miles Leaburn just four years since he was let go by Premier League rivals Chelsea.

That is according to The Sun, who claim that Villa are now leading the race to sign Leaburn this summer.

It’s stated a number of top-flight clubs have been alerted to Leaburn and Villa are at the front of the queue.

Charlton’s asking price for Leaburn is unclear but the Addicks have raked in cash for young players in recent times.

Joe Gomez, Ademola Lookman and Ezri Konsa spring to mind with all three racking up Premier League appearances over the years.

Leaburn could follow in their footsteps and Villa seem very keen to bring him to the Midlands this summer.

Who is Aston Villa target Miles Leaburn?

Leaburn is the son of former Charlton Athletic striker Carl Leaburn, who was an Addicks hero with more than 300 appearances to his name.

Miles didn’t actually start with Charlton though as he began his career in the Chelsea ranks.

The Blues let Leaburn go in 2019 though and Charlton were quick to secure his signature.

Leaburn has emerged into the Charlton first team this season and has been prolific, racking up 11 goals in just 31 League One outings.

Whilst still incredibly young at 19, Leaburn is showing great quality and is a huge physical presence at 6ft 5in tall.

Villa already have a top young striker in Jhon Duran but may see huge potential in Leaburn too.

Leaburn certainly isn’t ready for Premier League football right now but Villa may be tempted to sign him now and loan him out.

Even allowing Leaburn to spend another year at Charlton could be great for his development and the Addicks would no doubt love another season with the teenager.
