Tottenham Hotspur youngster Josh Onomah is on loan at Aston Villa, and has endured a difficult spell of late.

According to a report from the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are not currently planning to make a fresh move for Tottenham midfielder Josh Onomah at the end of the season, regardless of which division they find themselves in next term.

Onomah joined the Villans from Spurs on a season-long loan and seemed to make a very bright start to life at Villa Park, scoring four goals before the turn of the year as Villa recovered from a slow start to put themselves right in the promotion mix in the Championship.

However, the 20-year-old has been poor over the last few months and Steve Bruce has started to rely on him less and less in recent weeks. He has been an unused substitute for the last four games and has only completed 90 minutes in the league once since New Year.

And, perhaps unsurprisingly, the Birmingham Mail reports that Villa currently have no plans to try and agree a fresh deal for the youngster, so it is looking likely that he will head back to Tottenham. What happens from there remains to be seen.

Does Onomah have a future at Spurs?

It is a worrying sign for Onomah’s Spurs prospects that he is struggling to get into Aston Villa’s side. His time with the Villans should have been the making of the attacking midfielder, but instead, the spell looks set to end in an uninspiring fashion.

And with Mauricio Pochettino’s side looking so dangerous in that area of the field right now, and having a number of exciting youngsters coming through, it is difficult to predict what the future holds for Onomah.

Perhaps, another loan could be on the cards. But if he does leave on a temporary basis once again, the pressure would surely be on Onomah to make the most of that spell as it already appears that he may be facing an uphill battle trying to salvage his Spurs career based on his Villa stint.
